Just in from Glasgow City Council:

"OFFICIAL

Following on from the preliminary design community consultation event held in November for Queen Margaret Drive, Glasgow City Council (GCC) are taking forward a project to enhance walking and cycling provision in the area in order to refine a design option favored by the public to progress with a TRO for the area.

GCC will be holding a second public engagement event with a supplementary online survey to gather comments. Options will be presented for the junctions/ crossing at:

  • Queen Margret Road/ Kelvin Drive and
  • Hotspur Street/ Kelvinside Avenue

The main feature not being taken forward is the closure of Queen Margaret Road which was not favoured by the public at the initial consultation.

The main elements aims to improve the environment for cyclists, pedestrians, local residents and businesses. New designs could see the implementation of:

  • Improved paths
  • Improved pedestrian crossings
  • Reallocation of road space.
  • cycle lanes

The consultation will allow acceptable designs to progress in order to achieve match funding from Sustrans in 2018/19.

A public drop in session will be held on:

Wednesday 2nd May 2018

3pm-7pm

76 Kelbourne Scout Hall

Kelbourne Street

G20 8PR

Information and an online survey will be available and will be live from 25th April 2018 for a period of 4 weeks. The survey will be available at: www.glasgow.gov.uk/qmd.

The closing date for consultation will be the 18th May.

I trust this is of assistance; however, should you require any further information, please contact Sustainabletransport@glasgow.gov.uk

Please do look at this.  Queen Margaret Drive continues south into Byres Road and we thus have the potential for a continuous route from Maryhill Road down to Partick, but we do need to make our voices heard!
